Mercury Studios, Universal Music Group’s innovative and multi-faceted content studio,  Coal Drop Sessions has been nominated in the 28th Annual Webby Awards. Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international awards organization honoring excellence on the Internet. This great milestone for Mercury Studios has been honored for the Video Series and Channels – Music category, and Coal Drop Sessions has been singled out as one of the five best in the world, making it among the top of the 13,0000 projects entered.

Coal Drop Sessions is the flagship digital music performance series produced by Mercury Studios. The series sits on the Mercury Studios YouTube channel, with over 1.7million subscribers. Currently in it’s third season, the series features live performances from artists of all genres as they float through Regent’s Canal in London on a canal boat. Stand out moments include Bastille fitting an entire band on a small boat, Guvna B making friends with people along the canal, David Kushner pulling off a powerful performance of his hit song Daylight, and Samara Joy braving the worst of London weather to bring her music to people aorund East London.

Winners will be announced on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, and honored in a star-studded show at Cipriani Wall Street. Winners will have an opportunity to deliver one of The Webby Awards’ famous 5-Word Speeches.
